01 Platform overview

What is Atera and why do IT teams use it?

Atera is a SaaS IT management platform that combines Remote Monitoring & Management (RMM), Helpdesk and ticketing, PSA tools, remote access, automation, patch management and reporting in a single console.

Short answer: Instead of juggling separate tools for device monitoring, ticketing, remote access and patching, Atera brings support and maintenance workflows together. It serves both internal IT departments and managed service providers (MSPs), with separate plans for each.

A technician can spot a workstation with a performance issue, review the alert, connect to the device according to their permissions, fix the problem and document the work in the ticket. For an IT manager, that means more control and measurability; for an MSP, it means a structured way to manage clients, technicians and recurring service work.

That said, Atera is not on its own a replacement for an EDR product, a backup system or a firewall. Those are separate security and resilience layers that can be combined when designing a managed IT environment.

02 Core capabilities

What can you manage with Atera? RMM, PSA and more

These capabilities are at the heart of the platform. Exact scope, supported operating systems, concurrent sessions and add-ons depend on the plan.

RMM – remote monitoring & management

Health monitoring for workstations and servers, threshold-based alerts, hardware and software tracking, and proactive maintenance tasks.

Helpdesk & ticketing

Centralized user requests, technician assignment, progress tracking, SLAs, documentation and communication from within tickets.

Remote access

Connect to devices through supported remote-access integrations. Concurrent sessions and connection providers vary by license.

Patch management

Plan and deploy updates, set maintenance windows and track status. Pilot first before applying to critical servers and workstations.

Scripts & IT automation

Run scripts, software installs and recurring processes on managed devices, subject to proper permissions, conditions and controls.

PSA, reporting & integrations

Workflows, contracts and billing for MSPs, management reports and connections to other services. Some integrations and add-ons are billed separately.

!

Professional tip: good monitoring starts with the right alerts – not with lots of alerts. During onboarding, define server and workstation metrics, patch windows, technician permissions and incident handling.

03 Who it's for

Atera for an internal IT department or an MSP – what's the difference?

Both need monitoring, support and automation – but the work environment, service model, permissions and client management differ.

IT DEPARTMENTS

Internal IT teams

Teams managing computers and servers for employees, branches and internal departments.

  • Workstation, server and alert tracking
  • Internal helpdesk and SLAs
  • Remote automation and installs
  • Users, sites and role management
IT Department plans →
MANAGED SERVICE PROVIDERS

MSPs and service providers

IT companies managing multiple clients in parallel, with technicians, service commitments and billing processes.

  • Client and site separation
  • Tickets, contracts and customer service
  • Time tracking, billing and team operations
  • Reports and automation across environments
MSP plans →

For example, a company managing 300 computers across three offices would look at the IT Departments plans, while a provider managing 15 different clients would usually look at the MSP plans. These numbers are illustrative only, not product limits.

04 IT management in the AI era

Atera AI Copilot vs. Robin – not the same product

Atera includes AI capabilities, but it's important to distinguish between an assistant for technicians and a product built to autonomously handle some end-user requests.

For technicians

AI Copilot

Helps analyze ticket context, suggest fixes, generate scripts and handle support tasks. According to Atera, included in current plans since the 2026 pricing change.

For end users

Robin

A separate AI product designed to handle user requests through supported channels and authorized actions. Purchased and configured separately.

Governance

AI with permissions

Before enabling automation, review script access, approval flows, permission policies and change control in your environment.

From June 2026 on monthly plans, and from the relevant renewal on annual plans, Atera states that AI Copilot is included at no extra cost under current pricing. Robin, by contrast, is purchased separately. Actual availability depends on account terms, licensing and configuration.[1]

i

What we review during onboarding: which processes are worth automating, which scripts need human approval, and how to reduce the risk of running a broad action by mistake.

05 Transparent licensing

Atera pricing and licensing – how much does Atera cost in Israel?

Short answer: Atera is priced by number of technicians × selected plan, plus separate add-ons such as Robin if needed. The number of managed computers and servers doesn't increase the base license cost. Final pricing depends on billing term and quote conditions. Through ITEAMS, an Atera partner, you get the same license at a price below Atera's list price, together with onboarding and support.

Atera's base pricing model is per technician, not per endpoint. In practice, base cost is driven mainly by the number of technician licenses and the plan you choose – plus any add-ons or separate services you need.

Buying via ITEAMS? Same license, lower price

How to estimate your cost

Technician licenses × selected plan + add-ons

With four technicians, you look at four licenses on the right plan, then separately check add-ons, billing term, taxes and commercial terms. Don't assume everything is included just because endpoints aren't limited in the base pricing model.

06 Making the right choice

What should you compare before moving to Atera?

The right comparison isn't just a feature list. Check how the system fits your workflow, permissions, operating systems and total cost.

  • Licensing modelTechnicians vs. endpoints, expansions, commitment length and renewal terms.
  • Operating system coverageWindows, macOS and Linux, including differences between agents and plans.
  • Monitoring & automation setupWhat counts as critical, who gets alerts, when scripts run and with which permissions.
  • Service processesTicket intake, documentation, SLAs, handoffs and performance tracking.
  • Existing toolsFit with Microsoft 365, backup, security tools and internal processes via supported integrations.
  • Onboarding & migrationPhased agent rollout, removing old tools, piloting, backing up settings and training the team.

A good RMM should fit the way you work – not force your team to rebuild every process around the system's limits. If you already run an RMM, pilot and compare identical scenarios before switching.
